This policy covers founderscourier.com, published by Founders Courier (“we”). It describes the personal data we handle, the reasons, and the choices you have.
Data we collect, situation by situation
| Situation | What we receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Reading the site | Aggregate visit statistics, with no cookies and no individual profile | To know which pages are useful |
| Joining the waiting list for the book | Your email address and the list you joined | To tell you when the book is available |
| Asking to be interviewed | Your name, email address, business and the message you send | To reply and, if your story fits, to prepare the interview |
| Writing to us | Your email address and your message | To reply |
The newsletter, and the free guide that comes with it, are handled on Substack through the Indie Hustle subscription page. When you subscribe there, Substack’s privacy policy applies to the data you give it.
The site’s server also keeps routine technical logs, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site working. They are deleted after a short period.
Analytics
Visits are measured with Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool. It does not use cookies, does not build profiles and reports only totals, such as page views, referring sites, device types and countries.
When you join the waiting list, we ask you to confirm your address by clicking a link, so nobody can sign you up without your knowledge. The newsletter is sent from Substack, and every issue includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the site and the newsletter: web hosting, Substack for the newsletter and Umami. They process data on our behalf, under our instructions. Some are located in the United States, so your data may be processed there. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Links to other sites
Articles link to other websites, and some links may be affiliate links, as described in the editorial policy. Once you leave this site, the other site’s privacy policy applies.
How long we keep data
Waiting-list data are kept until the book is out or until you ask us to delete them, plus a short period to make sure we honor the request. Interview requests and correspondence are kept for as long as it is useful to the conversation. Server logs are deleted on a rolling basis.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what data we hold about you, to correct it, to give you a copy, or to delete it. Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California, you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to complain to a data protection authority. Where a legal basis is required, we rely on your consent for the waiting list and the newsletter, which you can withdraw at any time, and on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site. Send requests to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.
Children
The site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell the people affected by email.
